The Ford Explorer is a pioneering automobile, having been among the earliest nameplates to help popularize the modern SUV era. Now in its sixth generation, more than three decades after its original debut, Ford's second longest-running model remains a compelling option for drivers seeking adventure-ready capability mixed with family-friendly practicality.
The Ford Explorer gets even better for the 2025 model year, courtesy of an extensive midcycle refresh with updated styling, more refined accommodations, new technology, and a streamlined trim roster. The 2025 Explorer is expected to start rolling into dealerships in the second quarter of 2024 – and drivers from Houghton Lake to Gaylord will be able to find it at Feeny Ford of Grayling. Here's a quick look at some of the notable changes.
2025 Ford Explorer Design and Configurations
The 2025 Explorer lineup has been streamlined to four distinct versions: the value-packed Active, the stylish ST-Line, the performance-oriented ST, and the luxe Platinum. The refreshed Explorer is bolder and more refined, including sleek LED light clusters, wider air curtains, and a larger grille with unique designs for each tier. Inside, the cabin has been reimagined with quality materials, more soft-touch surfaces, and sophisticated design details.
Most models have a 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine (300 horsepower), while a 3.0-liter EcoBoost® (400 horsepower) is standard for ST and optional for Platinum.
2025 Ford Explorer Infotainment
The 2025 Explorer represents the debut of the new Ford Digital Experience. With customizable user profiles and a wider content and app ecosystem, it enables more personalization and greater connectivity with your digital life. The dual-display system includes a configurable 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Google built-in technology, including class-leading Google Maps and integrated Google Assistant. Using conversational "Hey, Google" voice commands, you can play music, find directions, make calls, and even adjust climate settings while keeping your hands on the wheel.
The new system enables numerous onboard entertainment apps, including Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeartRadio, and embedded SiriusXM. It also lets you browse the web, play games, and watch and stream videos while parked.
2025 Ford Explorer Driver Assistance
The 2025 Explorer offers Ford BlueCruise capability in all but the Active trim level. This semi-autonomous system enables hands-free driving on over 130,000 miles of pre-qualified Blue Zone highways. It even has a Lane Change Assist feature that automatically switches lanes after you tap the turn signal when the path is clear.
No matter what trim you choose for your Kalkaska commute, you'll enjoy the elevated confidence and convenience of Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+. Every 2025 Ford Explorer comes standard with a comprehensive driver assistance roster, including:
